The federal government entered a partial shutdown at midnight on Friday, January 30.
City and State agencies are not be affected by this shutdown.
The following will remain open:
- New York City public schools
- Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) offices
- Post offices (mail delivery will continue)
- Federal courts
The shutdown does not affect the payment of:
- SNAP (food stamps)
- Cash assistance
- Unemployment
- Social Security
- Medicare
- Medicaid
It is unknown how long the federal government shutdown will last.
