NYC CoolRoofs is a program that pays people to paint rooftops. The rooftops are painted with a white, reflective coating.

The reflective coating:

  • Cools New York City rooftops
  • Reduced building energy consumption
  • Reduces citywide carbon emissions

Program participants train for over ten weeks, then they install cool roofs throughout New York City.

Participants earn credentials at no cost, such as:

  • The OSHA 30
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Fireguard
  • 4-Hour Flagger
  • 4-Hour Scaffolding certifications

Participants also receive career readiness support from The Workforce1 Industrial and Transportation Career Center. This support helps them build skills and prepare for long-term careers in construction.
